ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT
Effective Date: October 22, 2026
Nearence is owned and operated by Appertini LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. We want everyone — including people with disabilities — to be able to discover people, events, and places around them using Nearence.
This statement explains our commitment to digital accessibility, the standard we measure ourselves against, the steps we take, known limitations, and how to reach us if you run into a barrier.
Our Commitment
We are committed to making the Nearence website and web app usable by the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or the assistive technology a person relies on. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing effort that we revisit as the product changes, not a one-time project.
Conformance Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
Nearence is currently partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content may not yet fully meet every applicable success criterion while we continue to identify and remediate issues.
Measures We Take
To support accessibility, we work to:
- Provide meaningful text alternatives for images and icons, and accessible names for interactive controls such as buttons and links.
- Use semantic, structured markup with clear headings and landmark regions so screen reader users can navigate efficiently.
- Support keyboard operation for interactive elements, so the app can be used without a mouse or touch.
- Aim for sufficient color contrast between text and its background, including across our selectable color themes.
- Respect system preferences where practical, including reduced-motion settings and device text sizing.
- Consider accessibility when designing and reviewing new features, and address reported issues as part of ongoing maintenance.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain. Nearence relies on maps, real-time location, photos, and other dynamic, user-generated content that can be difficult to make fully accessible:
- Interactive map views and location pins may be difficult to use with some assistive technologies; where possible, the same information is also available in list form.
- User-provided content — such as profile photos, bios, event descriptions, and messages — may lack descriptive alternative text because it is created by other members rather than by us.
- Some third-party components and embedded services may not be fully under our control or may not meet the same accessibility standard.
We treat reports of barriers in these areas seriously and prioritize fixes that remove them.
Compatibility
Nearence is designed to work with recent versions of major browsers (such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox) on current operating systems, together with the assistive technologies commonly used on those platforms, including screen readers and voice control. Using the latest versions of your browser and assistive technology generally provides the best experience.
Feedback and Contact
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Nearence. If you encounter a barrier, need information in a different format, or believe a part of the Service does not meet the standard above, please let us know so we can help and improve.

When contacting us, please include a description of the problem, the page or feature involved, and the browser, device, and assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback within a reasonable timeframe and to work with you toward a resolution.
Ongoing Improvement
Accessibility is an evolving effort. As Nearence changes, we will continue to review new and existing features, address reported issues, and update this statement to reflect our current practices. Appertini LLC may revise this Accessibility Statement from time to time.
